Top 8 Ways to Fix Slow Google Maps on Android and iPhone

If you’re anything like me, you rely on Google Maps for directions almost every day.  So, it’s really frustrating when the app is running slow or keeps crashing.  If you’re having trouble with Google Maps on your Android or iPhone device, here are a few troubleshooting tips to try.

1. CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s worth checking your internet connection to make sure it’s strong enough to support Google Maps.  If you’re on a cellular data connection, try moving to a different location or connect to a Wi-Fi network.

2. RESTART THE APP

If the app is still running slow, try restarting it.  This can often help clear up any temporary issues and make the app run more smoothly.

3. UPDATE THE APP

Make sure you’re using the latest version of Google Maps.  Older versions may not be as efficient or may not have all the latest features.  To update the app, open the App Store (for iPhone users) or Google Play Store (for Android users) and check for updates.

4. UPDATE YOUR DEVICE’S SOFTWARE

Just as it’s important to keep the Google Maps app up-to-date, it’s also important to make sure your iPhone or Android device is running the latest software.  To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update (for iPhone users) or Settings > About Phone > System Updates (for Android users).

5. CLEAR THE APP’S CACHE

Over time, the cache can become full and start to slow down the app.  To clear the cache, go to Settings > Apps (or Application Manager) > Google Maps and tap on Clear Cache.  For Android users, you may also need to tap on Clear Data.

6. TRY AN ALTERNATIVE APP

If you’re still having trouble with Google Maps, there are a number of alternative mapping apps you can try, such as Waze, Apple Maps, or MapQuest.

7. CONTACT GOOGLE MAPS SUPPORT

If you’ve tried all of the above troubleshooting tips and the app is still running slow, you may need to contact Google Maps support for further assistance.  You can reach them by phone at 1-855-936-4261 or by email at maps-support@google.com.

8. REINSTALL THE APP

If all else fails, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Google Maps app.  This will delete all of your saved data, so be sure to back up any important information before proceeding.  To uninstall the app, go to Settings > Apps (or Application Manager) > Google Maps and tap on Uninstall.  Once the app is removed, you can reinstall it from the App Store (for iPhone users) or Google Play Store (for Android users).

Why is my google maps so slow

There could be a few reasons why your Google Maps is running slow.  First, make sure you have a strong internet connection.  If you’re using cellular data, try moving to a different location or connect to a Wi-Fi network.  You should also restart the app and make sure you’re using the latest version.   If the app is still running slow, try clearing the cache or contacting Google Maps support for further assistance.
